Sources say the GFA has been aware of the decision since June 2023. However, its best efforts to get the sponsor to honor the contract were unsuccessful.
The Ghana Football Association is in search of a new title sponsor for the Ghana Premier League after betPawa withdrew its sponsorship.
At 11 AM on Tuesday, the GFA informed the eighteen Ghana Premier League clubs about betPawa’s development.
Sources say the GFA has been aware of the decision since June 2023. However, its best efforts to get the sponsor to honor the contract were unsuccessful.
According to sources, betPawa have pulled out of the agreement over dissatisfaction with the return on their investments.
The betting company has reportedly not realized the projected mileage and brand exposure they expected from their sponsorship of the league.
Checks indicate that betPawa have not fulfilled their contractual obligations to clubs this season.
They have also been unable to pay the locker room bonuses promised to players for the 2023/23 league season.
The GFA will now seek an amicable termination with betPawa, to formally end the contract.
