Dreams FC secured their first victory in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage with a 2-1 triumph over Nigerian side Rivers United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

This success comes after their initial defeat to Tunisia‘s Club Africain in the opening game last week.

Thanks to a brace from veteran striker John Antwi and young talent Abdul Aziz Issah, Dreams FC was able to overcome their opponents. Antwi opened the scoring for Dreams in the 35th minute, skillfully heading home a cross from defender Eric Boateng. Despite Rivers’ improved performance in the second half, it was Dreams who notched the second goal of the match.

Issah, aged 18, added the second goal for the Ghanaian club in the 74th minute, effectively concluding a remarkable team effort. Although he went on to score again shortly afterwards, his attempt was disallowed due to offside.

Rivers managed to pull one back in stoppage time through midfielder Alex Oyowah, but it was too little, too late. With this victory, Dreams have accumulated three points, placing them three points behind Club Africain, who boast two wins from two games.

Dreams FC will now prepare to face Academica do Lobito in Angola in the next round, slated for next Sunday.
